PeriOptix™ Solaris™ ranked the #1 LED dental headlight for 2009 by Reality
San Clemente, CA – May 9, 2009 – PeriOptix™, one of the nation’s leading providers of high quality magnification and illumination systems for medical and dental professionals, announced that its Solaris dental headlight system was tested and ranked #1 by a leading independent dental testing laboratory. Solaris was given the highest 5 star rating by Reality Publishing, an independent dental testing laboratory based in Houston, Texas. Reality is one of the few totally private, non-commercial dental research laboratories in the world. Their evaluation comprises extensive laboratory testing as well as actual clinical use by a team of dental practitioners.
The Solaris™ portable LED (light emitting diode) headlight is a fully portable lighting system that is worn by the dentist or hygienist during clinical procedures. It can be worn on a headband or attached to all types of surgical loupes. The headlight directly focuses the light in the line of site to illuminate the operative field. It is powered by a small, lightweight battery pack that is clipped to the clinician’s waist. The state of the art rechargeable Lithium Ion battery provides more than 4 hours of bright, focused light between charges. The Solaris uses the most advanced LED that will virtually never need replacing and delivers an amazing 80,000 lux of light. By comparison a household flashlight delivers about 5,000 lux. Portable dental headlights are one of the fastest growing dental product segments.
"This is a prestigious recognition of our advanced LED illumination technology by a leading, independent testing agency", said Gary Woker, the VP of Research and Development for PeriOptix. "Our #1 ranking validates the superiority of the Solaris compared to competitive systems." The testing comprised both laboratory and clinical testing by a team of independent dental clinicians, according to Mr. Woker.
The company will be showcasing its new Solaris portable headlight system at the upcoming California Dental Association meeting in Anaheim, California May 15-17th. The revolutionary Hogies™ modular loupe system will also be presented. Loupes are a pair of optical telescopes worn by clinicians to magnify the visual field. Conference attendees will have the ability to utilize the Solaris headlight and PeriOptix loupes in a simulated dental operatory.
Since it’s founding in 1999, PeriOptixTM has introduced a number of innovations in the dental and surgical loupe market that include a unique the HogiesTM modular frame system, the first portable LED light source, and a proprietary locking mechanism designed to simplify the adjustment of flip-up style loupes.
Headquartered in San Clemente, California, PeriOptix is a privately held corporation.
